  Cosmetics has not been so well-known in the past as comparing to the present period of time with each manufacturer individuallymade its production without collaborating and consulting with its fellow industrial members. Until 1965, a group of six men, consisted of Mr.Chan Watttanapol, Mr.Thawee Thaweesom-arng, Mr.Phitoon Watthanasomboon, Dr.Wiboon Sinprasong, Mr.Suthep Srimarat and Mr.Chaiyong Wattanasittiphong Who were related in the field cosmetics production have realized the importance of cosmetics production have realized the importance of collaboration among each other.

 
 A meeting for discussion, then, occurred among the group of cosmetics manfacturer. When the group has increased its size up to the number of 20 members, it has officially assigned Dr.Wiboon Sinprasong to act as a legally registered founder of the Cosmetics Manufacturers Association. Which later was granted a certificate of foundation on December 23, 1966 by the goverment. The Cosmetics Manufacturers Association has arranged its first annual conference on January 15, 1967 at the Press Association. Thirty people attended the conference, and an election for a president of the association has been done there. As a result, Mr.Charn Wattanapol became the first president of the association, and he was in charge of this position for two consecutive terms (1967-1970). During those years, The Cosmetics Manufacturers Association has, for the first time, announced to public by its members successfullly having set up the booths in the Vachirawut fair, Also at that time, using restaurants in terms of conference rooms were no unusual scenes because the association was still in doubt on a permanent location for its office. Techniques of price war and imitating products have been used to complete amoung each other. Members did not understand well of the problems occurred for each party and have made no effort for true consultation. Therefore, the directors of the association have really stressed their concern to keep all members in touch of each other.

      In 1969, Mr.Charn Wattanapol had decided to resigned from the position in order to run his own business in the states, and this consequently making Mr.Surapat Krisdapong, Mr.lam Arngsantikul, and Mr.Eid SaeTang as substitutions to the position by then.

     In The beginning of 1971, Dr.Wiboon Sinprasong, the second president of the association has given part of his Typist school on the second floor, area to be made as office of the Cosmetics Manufacturers Association. This was located at the Wiboon Suksa Typing School in the area of Rama I Bridge,Thonburi. Dr.Wiboon remained in his position for four terms (1971-1978), During his period, the association has more rules in the society, and due to the issue that the ministry of Public Welfare has strongly concentrated on chemical formula used in cosmetics products. Also, the association played roles to help all members to act in compliance with the rules and regulations, and also one outstanding activity was to help its members work their ways to be registered as legal manufacturers with registered formula with the Ministry of Public Welfare. Besides that, the association also emphasized on member relationships by means of arranging trips to different places, attending related members "Wedding or funeral to keep members" relationships closer to one another in responding to the gradual expansion of the Association.
 
 
 

     The Cosmetics Manufacturers Association hoped that the government agencies and related private and public sectors and the people would be the best supporters to the association throughout the years.
  - To promote the integrity and dignity of its members. 
  - To promote the standards of products, production and distribution processes as well as the tradings to the world standards.
  - To help and maintain its members' benefits. 
  - To help source out local markets as well as export markets for all members.
  - To provide consultations and advised for its members in related to fields of commerce,industry as well as finance.
  - To publicize activities of its members.

  
     Several major objectives that guide the work of the association are all being thoroughly implemented to enchance the best benefits for its members as well as the actual society. For year of 1997-1998, One of the main objectives is to reduce import duty of raw materials and components. By doing this, it helps members by means of a cost reduction in their production processes. Therefore, this method will enhance their competitive edge in the world market to increase their export capability. Also, a cosmetics journal will be published with all important and advantageous information needed by the members of the association. The information acts to update members with the necessary news and information, and this, in a mean time, enables them to act fast to the actual situation. Lastly, one major objective of this association is to gain more members to its associtation.
 
  


     Moreover, on August 8, 1997. The Cosmetics Manufacturers Association decided to organize a lunch talk under the topic of "How to Win the Thailand's Economy Crisis" at the Montian Riverside Hotel, An expert who deals particularly with financial issues in the business was invited to indicate and explain clearly of the real causes of the crisis. Furthermore, a wayout was also being demonstrated with techniques of implememting it successfully, during this disastrous period of inflation resulting from the floating of the Thai Baht. As well as value added tax increased from 7 to 10% effective on August 16, 1997
 
   all has been reduced down to only 5% base on CIF value with one exception in the product group related to Petrol-Chemicals. However the official importation rules and procedures has just been announced by Thai Custom on August 13, 1997 after continuous pushing by the association.

     Starting from the years 1989-1991, The Cosmetics Manufacturers Association has made its best effort to gain the FDA's acceptance in its issuing of the rules and regulations concerning everything about cosmetics productions up to its selling strategies. In 1991, the association has finally been allowed to partake in the meetings of the FDA, mainly in the area of regulation-issuing and standard settings.

   On June 26, 1997, the Thai government has made an official announcement to make a reduction on tax for imported raw materials. The rate of decrease is as demonstrated here-from 20%, 30%, and 60%
